Cymopolée

Audiovisual installation

Like a freeze-frame of a tornado, this unusual 9-metre-high sculpture takes up residence in the urban space and challenges us. What is it doing in our latitudes?
The tornado lights up. The winds that move it are symbolized by light and sound trajectories.
Based on the findings of the IPCC reports, the Luminariste team used light and sound to create a naturalistic, immersive evocation of a tornado’s passage over the city, from warning to departure, through its peaks of intensity and moments of relative calm.
The narrative focuses on the emotions linked to the consequences of climate change and our collective responsibilities: fear, anger, nostalgia and hope.
Beyond catastrophism, Cymopolée contrasts the urgency of the situation with the calm after the storm.

A breeze of poetry for a breath of fresh air.
