As part of the Lumino festival organized by the Partenariat du Quartier des Spectacles in Montreal, Nicolas Paolozzi created the in situ work Vortex. This luminous, airborne, streamlined creation is an immersive installation that generates a constantly changing atmosphere. Geometry, light and water intertwine to give viewers a unique visual and sensory experience. Comprising luminous octagons arranged on top of one another, the installation seems to float gently over the indoor fountain. Inspired by the architecture of Complexe Desjardins, the work is eco-friendly, being made from recycled and recyclable materials. Contemplating it produces a feeling of lightness that transports viewers to a world of dreams and imagination.
